Acts 22.6-21

Brief thoughts for today:

To make sense of passage from 2 Samuel we need to remember the story so far. Among David's many children, one of his sons Amnon raped his half sister Tamar. Another of David's sons, Absolom, Tamar's full brother, bided his time then took the opportunity to kill his half brother Amnon. Absolom then fled to Gehsur.   Joab's plan for a reconciliation between Absolom and David involves this wise woman from Tekoa telling a story about a son of hers who has murdered his brother. Sometimes we need someone to shine a new light on our situation to help us move on from a difficult place, to deal with the way things are and to step in to God's future. Such a process might even be described as  healing just as the one Paul recounts to the Roman commander. Tomorrow we will find out if Joab's ruse is successful, but if you can't wait, read the rest of the chapter!
