Welcome
The Revised Common Lectionary has really caught on over the last decade in a wide range of Christian Traditions across the whole world. Its value cannot be denied: lots of good material available in books and online; and you could go to church in a different country every week and still experience continuity.
But ever felt that you are only scratching the surface of the Word through this lectionary? Of course many people will read the scriptures at home with a wide variety of schemes, and that's fine. But there is also a very little known daily lectionary produced by the consultation on common texts that supplements the Sunday lectionary. It is available as a PDF for each of the three years here: http://www.commontexts.org/publications/
Each week we reflect on Sunday's readings on Monday to Wednesday and build towards the next Sunday on Thursday to Saturday. You could use them however and whenever you like. I often use these readings in the context of a little 'office' with the following sequence:
Invitatory Psalm ( eg Psalm 95)
Psalm for the day
Laudate Psalm (see below)
Old testament reading
New testament reading
Benedictus (morning) or Magnificat (evening)
reflection
Prayers
Lords Prayer.
Each day I will post a brief reflection based on one or more of the readings. The emphasis is on our spiritual or devotional life. This is not a commentary, although from time to time it will be helpful to refer to the fruits of scholarship. I will not be posting on Sundays as there are already hundreds of sites with thoughts on the Sunday readings. However, you might want to read them before you go to Church. Or, as not all churches will use all the appointed readings on a Sunday, you might want to read any that were not used when you get home.
